The Lead Utility Mechanic supports the maintenance activities of the City of Avondale's water production, wastewater collections and wastewater treatment divisions. The position provides expertise and guidance to ensure that various treatment, process and conveyance equipment is maintained in a safe and efficient manner. The position works to ensure the documentation of all utility system maintenance activity is complete, correct and consistent within the City's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). The Lead Utility Mechanic is responsible for the most complex assignments, including: installation, modification, repair and replacement, and corrective and preventive maintenance to typical and specialized water reclamation industry-related equipment, water production equipment or wastewater collections equipment: including but not limited to: pumps, valves, motors, compressors, filters, blowers and more. Under direct supervision of the Water Reclamation Facility Supervisor, the Lead Utility Mechanic is expected to continually strive to improve operations & maintenance activities, decrease equipment downtime, streamline work practices, ensure accurate record keeping via the CMMS software and perform other related duties as required.
