About The Position

The Unit Station Technician is a pivotal front line individual who provides exemplary customer service to families, staff, providers and visitors, both in-person and by phone. Provides monitoring of patients requiring continuous telemetry throughout Children's. Alerts clinicians based on identified acute changes. Creates telemetry reports daily or as otherwise needed. Lead facilities new employee access to programs and is the master new employee trainer, also serving as a primary resource for trainers. Answer questions, warmly, promptly, and correctly, and problem solve as needed. Provides first response to phone calls that come into the units, arranges for deliveries to patients rooms, directs visitors to their destinations, and maintains a safe, welcoming environment at all times, modeling service excellence to the organization. This individual is the key liaison to other departments and provides other disciplines with the tools for their jobs. The Unit Operations Coordinator supports patient care on the unit(s) and provides overall administrative support for the unit. This individual is also the unit(s) technology resource.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma. Two year degree or college equivalent preferred.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience required (Health Unit Coordinator certificate preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Previous Health Unit Coordinator experience preferred
  • Medical terminology preferred
  • Telemetry/EKG monitoring experience preferred
  • Minimum three years as CVICU UST or similar experience
  • Possesses high proficiency in understanding of a child and family centered-care approach
  • Expert interpretation of telemetry
  • Continual exposure to, and advanced understanding of, complex and forward-facing customer focused interactions
  • Exhibits identifiable leadership qualities and/or behaviors which include: empathy, the ability to coach and mentor others, assertiveness, initiative, self-reflection, and desire to continually improve
  • Ability to lead by example and organize team members
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills

  • Outstanding professional and positive customer service skills essential

  • Strong computer skills such as Microsoft word, excel or hospital technology systems
