Our Team. Our Passion. Our Approach. We are seeking a Lead UI Developer with deep expertise in React to lead the design, development, and evolution of modern, scalable user interfaces. This role blends hands-on front-end development with technical leadership, mentoring, and architectural ownership. You will partner closely with Product, UX, and Backend teams to deliver high-quality, performant, and accessible web applications. 80% hands on coding and 20% leadership, and mentoring is required.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional UI / front-end development experience
  • 4+ years of deep hands-on experience with React
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript
  • Experience with modern state management solutions
  • Expertise in responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and accessibility standards
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems and reusable component libraries
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs
  • Strong experience with front-end testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library)
  • Familiarity with modern build tools
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Understanding of Micro-frontend Architecture principles and build patterns
  • Understanding of Agile Methodologies including SAFe

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Next.js or other React-based frameworks
  • Familiarity with Micro-Frontend architectures
  • Experience with UI performance optimization and profiling
  • Exposure to Agile / Scrum development methodologies
  • Experience working in large-scale, enterprise applications
  • Knowledge of Warehousing and modern warehouse workflows
  • Familiarity with User Experience for Touchscreen and other high volume repetitive operations
  • Ability to pick up and maintain legacy code bases as needed.
  • Experience with Java, SQL, messaging frameworks a plus.
  • Experience with Android Studio development a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes strongly encouraged.
  • Experience working with and leading globally dispersed teams.
  • Experience with Cursor or other AI agentic tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture and development of complex UI applications using React and modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Serve as the UI technical authority, setting standards for front-end architecture, design patterns, and best practices
  • Drive component-based design systems, reusable libraries, and shared UI frameworks
  • Collaborate with UX designers to translate designs and prototypes into high-quality, responsive user interfaces
  • Mentor and guide UI developers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical coaching
  • Ensure applications meet performance, accessibility (WCAG), security, and scalability standards
  • Partner with backend and API teams to define clean integration patterns
  • Own front-end build pipelines, tooling, and CI/CD integrations
  • Lead technical discussions, estimations, and planning for UI initiatives
  • Stay current with emerging UI technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate
  • Responsible for driving consistency and quality in the Fortna Software UI using React, VITE, and React-Router
  • Update and maintain design system components for use across applications.
  • Must be able to document and create sequence diagrams and other supporting documentation for ADRs
