About The Position

The Lead Two-Year-Old Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children ages 24–36 months. This role includes planning curriculum, supervising staff and children, maintaining licensing compliance, and fostering positive relationships with families.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required by licensing)
  • Experience working with toddlers (ages 2–3)
  • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, flexibility, and a nurturing attitude
  • Leadership and team collaboration abilities
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Frequent bending, sitting on the floor, and active engagement with children
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations

Nice To Haves

  • CDA (Child Development Associate) or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with early childhood standards
  • Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
  • Use positive guidance and behavior management techniques
  • Observe and document children’s progress and milestones
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
  • Ensure proper supervision of children at all times
  • Follow daily schedules including meals, naps, and activities
  • Manage transitions effectively to minimize disruptions
  • Supervise and mentor assistant teachers or aides
  • Delegate tasks and ensure classroom coverage ratios are maintained
  • Model professionalism and best practices in early childhood education
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about their child’s development
  • Conduct parent conferences as required
  • Address concerns in a professional and timely manner
  • Follow all state licensing regulations and center policies
  • Maintain accurate records (attendance, incident reports, assessments)
  • Ensure health and safety standards are consistently met
