About The Position

The Lead Transportation Security Officer (LTSO) position at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) involves overseeing and leading a team of Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) at Ketchikan International Airport (KTN). The role is critical in ensuring the security of the airport and the safety of travelers by implementing security screening procedures, responding to security breaches, and training team members. This position is designed as an Emergency Essential role, requiring the employee to remain on duty during emergencies.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National status.
  • At least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Completion of a favorable Background Investigation (BI).
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening and subject to post-employment random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Selective Service registration is required.
  • Ability to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Meet and maintain medical requirements for screening work, including physical abilities assessment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in security work, aviation screener work, or X-ray technician work.
  • Specialized experience in providing frontline security protection of air travelers and airports.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of at least three full-performance level Transportation Security Officers (TSOs).
  • Identify, distribute, and balance workloads and tasks among employees according to established workflow and skill levels.
  • Provide input to supervisors regarding employee performance, promotions, and other human resources matters.
  • Implement security screening procedures in accordance with TSA objectives and directives.
  • Assist with investigations of incidents and prepare incident reports as necessary.
  • Respond to breaches of security and emergency situations.
  • Train team members and monitor their progress, representing the team in communications with supervisors.
