About The Position

The Lead Transportation Security Officer (LTSO) position at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) involves leading a team of Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) to ensure the security of transportation systems across the United States. The LTSO is responsible for managing workloads, implementing security procedures, and responding to security breaches, all while maintaining a high level of safety and compliance with TSA directives. This role is critical in safeguarding the American way of life by protecting airports, seaports, railroads, highways, and public transit systems.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National status.
  • Minimum age of 18 years at the time of application.
  • Completion of a favorable Background Investigation (BI).
  • Pass pre-employment Drug Screening and subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Selective Service registration required.
  • Ability to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Meet and maintain medical requirements for screening work, including physical abilities assessment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in security work, aviation screener work, or X-ray technician work.
  • Specialized experience in frontline security protection of air travelers and airports.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Transportation Security Officers (TSOs).
  • Identify, distribute, and balance workloads among team members.
  • Provide input on human resources matters such as employee performance and promotions.
  • Implement security screening procedures in accordance with TSA objectives.
  • Assist with investigations of incidents and prepare incident reports.
  • Respond to breaches of security and emergency situations.
  • Train team members and monitor their work progress.
  • Represent the team in communications with supervisors to obtain necessary resources.
