About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Lead Traffic Signal/ITS Engineer to join our collaborative team in Raleigh, NC. As the lead on traffic signal design projects, you will ensure accuracy, compliance with standards, and timely delivery. You will work closely with project managers and team members to support successful project outcomes while contributing to innovative transportation solutions. Requirements

  • Bachelor's in civil engineering or related field and 6 years of traffic signal and ITS design or related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years of experience in traffic signal and ITS design
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in North Carolina or ability to acquire within six months
  • Experience in MicroStation
  • Proficient professional verbal and written communication and time management skills plus ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.
  • Lead project task and mentor other engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of intersection and traffic signal design projects according to each agency’s standards and plan development processes.
  • Plan and design communication networks and physical infrastructure.
  • Produce project deliverables including construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Effectively manage assigned projects/tasks and be in responsible charge of task activities and schedule.
  • Manage client expectations to ensure the client is highly satisfied with the project(s) and coordinate directly with the DOT clients to implement or manage the implementation of any of the above systems.
  • Develop new business by fostering existing and new client relationships.
  • Periodic travel required within North Carolina and neighboring states (occasionally)
