About The Position

Velosity CMD is searching for a Lead Toolmaker on 1st shift to support our Forest Lake, MN location. The Lead Toolmaker is responsible for the execution of mold building, understanding which parts of the tool will need to be completed first to hit delivery dates, working with department supervisor to provide status updates and address any challenges with the mold build. This is an on-site position. The typical pay range for this role: $31.16 - $46.73. This role is also eligible for our 5% target bonus program. This pay range reflects the base hourly rate or annual salary for positions within this job grade, based on our market-based pay structures. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions. While the full range is shared for transparency, offers are rarely made at the minimum or maximum of the range. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 Year Tech degree in tool or molding making, or equivalent work experience
  • 10 years experience in new construction of Plastic Injection Molds, Mold Modifications, Mold Repair
  • Standing, Walking, Kneeling, Bending, Reaching, Pulling, Twisting, Turning, Seeing, Hearing
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to build plastic injection molds from blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to compute dimensions, plans layouts & determine assembly method/sequence of operations.
  • Evaluates method & sequence to recommend improvements.
  • Assists in the training & development of Mold Makers.
  • Interact with project managers and company staff to ensure products meet customer and company design and manufacturability and production goals.
  • Set-up and operate all equipment with minimal supervision in accordance to prints for tool or fixture construction.
  • Execute work efficiently to meet expected hours for the operations to be performed.
  • Demonstrate and train safe execution of work activities and conduct 5S activities.
  • Follow and comply with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Build tool components at a high level of accuracy.
  • Tooling free from errors requiring unnecessary rework to repair or replace components.
  • Maintain tooling through execution of repair and maintenance. Provide quick turnaround on repairs and service.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all molds.
  • Build precision gages and fixtures to support other manufacturing areas.
  • Create documentation notes as needed for tools constructed.
  • Ensure procedures and documentation effectively communicate tasks.
  • Achieve a high level of proficiency on the operation and maintenance of tools, equipment and machinery.
  • Use various measuring tools to ensure accuracy of tight tolerance parts.
  • Must be highly proficient at interpreting blueprints and have knowledge of GD&T.
