About The Position

The Lead Therapist performs all functions of the SBHS Inpatient therapist role including assisting clients in meeting their bio-psycho-social needs while enabling them to employ skills and strategies to facilitate physiological and emotional regulation and optimal level of emotional health. Service provision involves basic consultation, psychoeducation, and specialized clinical social services for consumers/families receiving care at SBHS. The clinical social services provided include crisis intervention, individual therapy, short and/or long-term family therapy, group therapy, treatment planning and discharge planning. The Lead Therapist serves as an integral member of the treatment team and is also responsible for case management of consumers’ internal and external support systems. The Lead Therapist attends shift change meeting on his or her unit to facilitate effective communication and collaboration among the interdisciplinary team members. The Lead Therapist participates in periodic SBHS Clinical Leadership meetings and unit meetings for his or her assigned unit. The Lead Therapist communicates with, collaborates with, and formally meets with the Clinical Leader for his or her assigned unit each week and serves as a liaison between unit staff and the Clinical Leader for the assigned unit. The Lead Therapists partners with nursing leadership and clinical leadership to reinforce and address unit functioning and milieu management. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a mental health/human services field is required
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in a behavioral health care facility, with direct experience in family and group therapies, crisis intervention and treatment skills is preferred
  • must have strong clinical assessment skills, with majority of experience focused on the child/adolescent population
  • LPC or LSW Required
  • Primary Source Verification shall be required through Illinois Department of Professional Regulations

Nice To Haves

  • LCPC or LSW preferred
  • Full licensure required within two (2) years of employment
  • Employee may pursue designation of Clinical Psychologist instead of above licensures
  • Trained in psychotherapy techniques providing therapy, training in evidenced based models including CBT, DBT, etc. preferred
  • Time management and experience completing therapeutic documentation
