About The Position

Eaton’s eMobility Division is currently seeking a Lead Test Engineer to join our team at our Marshall, Michigan facility. The Lead Test Engineer is responsible for the development, execution, and sustainment of advanced test systems and lab capabilities supporting product development, validation, and continuous improvement. This role combines deep hands-on technical expertise with ownership of test infrastructure, safety, change management, and commissioning activities, and serves as a technical leader within the lab and broader engineering organization. The position works closely with product engineering, lab operations, safety, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure test methods, equipment, and data meet technical, safety, and quality expectations throughout the full lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution .
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an automotive, electrical, mechanical, testing, or engineering environment. Co-op/Intern experience acceptable towards experience.
  • Previous test engineering experience supporting an engineering, research, or manufacturing organization.

Nice To Haves

  • BS Electrical Engineering Degree.
  • Product Electrical and Mechanical background/experience.
  • Previous experience in Automotive/Vehicle, Aerospace, or Industrial Automation sectors.
  • iTest/CANape/LabVIEW data acquisition and controls experience.
  • Knowledge of Test Lab Equipment typically found in Engineering Product Testing Research Labs.
  • Experience developing and analyzing data acquisition and control systems.
  • Effective communication English skills ( verbal, written).
  • Significant Technical Writing
  • Significant Relationship building

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product engineering and cross functional teams to define test strategies, plans, and execution
  • Develop, execute, and document test procedures, profiles, and reports
  • Design, build, and improve test fixtures and test stands to enhance capability and efficiency
  • Develop and maintain automated test and data acquisition software using tools such as CANape, iTest, LabVIEW, and Python
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex test system issues across hardware, software, controls, and instrumentation
  • Analyze high speed test data and collaborate with engineering on results and next steps
  • Lead test cell safety activities in accordance with MESH 8.0
  • Own Management of Change activities for test equipment, software, and processes from initiation through closure
  • Plan and execute commissioning of new or modified test equipment
  • Support test operations planning, prioritization, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to engineers and technicians
