About The Position

This role works as a licensed Radiology technologist under the direction of the Diagnostic Radiology Coordinator. Duties include but are not limited to assisting with schedules, quality control, IEMA regulations, PACS support, policy and guideline compliance, and patient care. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, with typical hours from 12 PM to 8:30 PM. There is no call, no weekends, and no holidays. The pay range is $32.45 - $48.70.

Requirements

  • Maintains active IEMA License.
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years full time experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Past supervisory experience preferred.
  • Fully skilled in all areas of general diagnostic radiology.
  • Understanding of positioning and technique factors as in Merrill’s Directory.
  • Able to perform all common radiologic procedures.
  • Good oral & written communication skills.
  • ARRT Registry.

Responsibilities

  • Assures high quality radiographs are submitted by technologists to ensure optimal diagnostic information is available to radiologists for accurate and complete patient diagnosis.
  • Evaluates films and makes recommendations for improvement, needed changes in technique and/or positioning.
  • Monitors equipment failures; troubleshoots and repairs minor equipment failures; determines need for supportive service calls.
  • Coordinates technologists and supporting personnel with regard to schedules, work assignments, and quality improvement standards.
  • Prepares technologist work schedules and approves any requested changes according to department staffing.
  • Responsible for adjustments to staffing assignments in the event of unscheduled staff shortages.
  • Provides verification of Time and Attendance records to maintain complete and accurate employee records.
  • Coordinates and oversees training of new employees according to department orientation policies.
  • Counsels, disciplines, and reviews employees with approval of Radiology Manager.
  • Attends monthly Department Leadership Meetings, and provides input regarding department operations.
  • Coordinates patient flow through the department to ensure maximum work output with the least amount of patient waiting time.
  • Prepares and submits incident reports as needed to ensure continuous safety and quality patient care standards.
  • Works closely with Centralized Scheduling Department to determine appropriateness of exam scheduling.
  • Performs venipuncture for IVP and nephrotomogram exams using appropriate sterile technique.
  • Ensures proper charging of contrast media and supplies on a daily basis.
  • Acts as initial contact person for patient, visitors, physicians and/or staff with concerns, complaints or dissatisfaction.
  • Maintains inventory of department supplies.
  • Assumes the duties and responsibilities of a staff technologist as needed.
  • Develops and maintains a QA/Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Responsible for capturing appropriate exam charges, updates to procedure files, reimbursement codes, etc.
