Responsible for the independent performance of technical procedures, including emergency and routine patient testing, quality control, and preventive maintenance. Participates in Quality Management processes as needed. Qualifies as a General Supervisor under CLIA, and may act as supervisor designate in the absence of the Section Manager or Section Supervisor. Demonstrates Leadership and Technical Expertise.

Requirements

Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
A B.S. and successful completion of an accredited MT/MLS program.
A B.S or A.A.in Chemistry, Biology, or other laboratory based Science including a Laboratory training program or accredited by the ABHES, NAACLS or HHS sanctioned reviewer, ASCP accreditation or equivalent.
A B.S. or A.A.in Chemistry, Biology, or other laboratory based Science degree that includes 60 semester hours of medical lab technology courses or other sciences as specified by CLIA.
5 years prior experience in a licensed Clinical laboratory preferred.
ASCP Certification Required; Specialty Certification preferred
Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Must possess skills in Core Lab (Chemistry, Hematology and Urinalysis. Full time night staff is required to cover Blood Bank); Microbiology; or Blood Bank appropriate to section assignment.
Meet M.T. Tier requirements for MT/MLS III and successfully complete the application process.

Nice To Haves

5 years prior experience in a licensed Clinical laboratory preferred.
ASCP Certification Required; Specialty Certification preferred
