About The Position

The Lead Technician position at Texas Tech University involves performing highly skilled mechanical and analytical duties in a lead role, coordinating and completing projects while supervising subordinate employees. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience to equal six years.
• Ability to perform skilled work required in the operation of a wood shop and maintenance of equipment.
• Effective communication skills and ability to train and supervise others.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor or Master's Degree in Studio Art.
• Familiarity with laser cutters, 3D printers, and CNC routers.
• Experience demonstrating or teaching woodworking skills.
• Knowledge of basic shop safety protocol.

Responsibilities

• Perform highly skilled mechanical and analytical duties in a lead position.
• Supervise subordinate employees and provide training and technical assistance to students and faculty.
• Demonstrate general woodworking skills and the use of related tools and machinery.
• Train, schedule, and monitor multiple graduate wood shop assistants each semester.
• Organize, plan, and execute work orders for fabrication of various items.
• Maintain, clean, and repair tools and machines as needed.
• Keep a clean and organized shop environment and manage inventory for necessary supplies.
