Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of maintenance and repair techniques for heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to perform road calls and test drives; valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
  • Mechanical or trade school certification required
  • Proficient knowledge of tools and equipment required to perform vehicle and equipment repairs.
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid CDL license; preferred.
  • ASE Master Mechanic Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses advanced mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems, including chassis and body issues, and performs repairs and maintenance on all equipment to maximize safe and productive operations. Reviews and completes repairs identified on DVIRs (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports) and repair orders.
  • Performs repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty equipment, including but not limited to Rear Load, Front Load, Roll-Off, Grapple, Port-a-let, and other service-type trucks, including chassis and body components.
  • Road tests vehicles to diagnose problems and verify completion of repairs.
  • Responds to emergency road calls to repair trucks and/or coordinates towing when repairs cannot be completed onsite.
  • Communicates with managers and drivers regarding vehicle conditions and discusses preventative techniques to reduce future repairs.
  • Completes all required paperwork and computer data entry, including documenting parts usage and labor time on repair orders, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Follows all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Utilizes vehicle electronic systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs, including the use of diagnostic laptops for both chassis and body troubleshooting.
  • Performs repairs using Factory Service Manuals.
  • Conducts safety inspections on vehicles and equipment.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains a high standard of ethics, professionalism, and dependability.
