About The Position

Supports management in directing and coordinating Pest Control crew activities; skilled at plant identification, plant or tree deficiencies, maximize plant health, understand plant nomenclature. Oversee scheduling of herbicide, pesticide and fungicide applications for L&O and Aquatic programs. Monitor all IPM practices and Green Initiatives. Monitor beneficial insect programs. Reinforcing all UO safety guidelines, and UO policies and procedures; completion of all essential written documentation; and the ability to communicate and organize with other UO departments.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED - Required
  • 5+ Years: Ornamental pest control required
  • 2+ Years: Creating and implementing pest management programs required
  • 5+ Years: Landscape maintenance experience preferred
  • 2+ Years Leading Others Required
  • Valid Florida Driver's License/ required to operate company vehicles.
  • Pest Control Operator's License (PCO) required.
  • Aquatic Weed Control License Required.
  • Ability to launch, operate, and trailer a boat in waterways and ponds.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Horticulture or Entomology preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture or Entomology preferred.
  • 1-2 Years: Creating and implementing Plant Health Care programs preferred
  • 1-2 Years: Aquatic Pest Control preferred
  • Commercial applicator's license preferred.
  • Mosquito Control license preferred.
  • Limited Wildlife License preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and delegates work assignments among qualified crewmembers. Communicates performance expectations in an effort to ensure proper completion of tasks; provides feedback for recognition and performance improvement. Assigns PMs and accurately records labor in Maximo.
  • Actively reinforces company safety guidelines and programs reports non-compliance. Monitors employee's productivity, work habits. Leads work startup and stoppage, schedules breaks. Monitors care, condition, use and storage of tools, equipment and other UO property. Maintains material inventories. Monitors compliance with wardrobe/grooming standards, driving policy, radio usage, and other UO policies.
  • Ensures proper completion of documentation. Captures written behaviors using the Lead Observation Report to support managerial and supervisory documentation.
  • Communicates and coordinates with other departments or crafts as needed. Communicates resource needs and work plans to Supervision. Provides two-way communications between work team, supervisor, and other management and HR personnel.
  • Performs job duties as described in non-lead job description. Maintains and shares job knowledge assists in developing employees.
  • Assists with training new and current employees. Assigns who will provide daily training.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
