About The Position

As a Lead Technical Program Manager within the Consumer & Community Banking Core Platform Engineering - API Marketplace and API Gateway domain, you will be at the forefront of delivering next-generation API solutions that enable seamless connectivity, accelerate digital transformation, and enhance operational excellence across the firm. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of complex, high-impact API programs and projects that directly support the firm’s strategic vision and competitive edge. Your advanced knowledge of API architecture, integration patterns, and emerging technologies will be essential for developing efficient program plans and effectively managing dependencies and deliverables. Your strong analytical reasoning and adaptability will enable you to navigate ambiguity and change, ensuring that API initiatives are aligned with business goals and deliver measurable value. With strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, you will foster productive relationships and influence decision-making to achieve transformational outcomes.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in technical program management concepts and 5+ years of applied experience leading complex technology projects and programs in a large organization, with a focus on API platforms, integration, or digital transformation.
  • Experience in technical program management, with a strong background in API architecture, API Gateway technologies (e.g., Apigee, Envoy, Kong, AWS API Gateway), and API Marketplace solutions.
  • Advanced expertise in stakeholder management, with the ability to establish productive working relationships and influence decision-making across cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
  • Technical fluency in API design (REST, GraphQL, gRPC), cloud platforms, and integration patterns, including experience with vendor products and managing vendor relations to enable scalable, secure, and on-demand access to API services.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing resources and high-performing teams in a fast-paced, agile environment, with demonstrated success in delivering transformational API programs.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in applying analytical reasoning, problem-solving techniques, and data-driven decision-making to break down complex business, technical, or operational objectives into actionable tasks and deliverables.
  • Experience with regulatory, ethical, and risk management considerations in deploying API solutions within financial services or highly regulated industries.

  • Experience leading large-scale API transformation programs in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of API security standards (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT), API lifecycle management, and responsible API practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native API platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), API management tools, and DevOps/MLOps frameworks.
  • Familiarity with data privacy, security, and compliance requirements in global banking environments.
  • Certifications in Agile, Scrum, or relevant API/technology domains (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Apigee Certified Professional, PMI-ACP).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of transformational API Marketplace and API Gateway initiatives, developing and executing comprehensive project plans that incorporate advanced technical requirements, resource allocation, and timelines to ensure on-time delivery of innovative API solutions.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with API adoption, integration, and security, proactively addressing potential roadblocks and implementing contingency plans to maintain program momentum and integrity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including engineering, product, security, and business stakeholders—to define program scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with the firm’s strategic goals and API strategy.
  • Utilize advanced analytical reasoning and data-driven insights to assess program performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimizations that enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and API platform quality.
  • Champion the adoption of agile methodologies, API best practices, and technical solutions, fostering a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and innovation within the team.
  • Drive change management and stakeholder engagement for transformational API programs, ensuring successful integration and adoption of API Marketplace and Gateway technologies across the organization.
