About The Position

The primary function of the Lead Mental Health Technician (MHT) is to ensure patient safety. The Lead MHT assists the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) with planning and oversight of the MHT patient care role and the overall goal of facilitating the provision of continuous and safe patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients. Under the oversight of the Nurse Educator, the Lead MHT is responsible for primary training, preceptorship, and mentorship of the MHTs throughout the facility.

Requirements

• High School Degree or equivalent; Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
• Three (3) years of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques.
• At least one year of experience coaching and developing other staff members in psychiatric patient care techniques or performing similar duties at the facility.
• Successful completion of approved Basic Life Support and approved Crisis Prevention & Behavioral Management training.
• Obtain/maintain certification as an instructor/facilitator for Verbal De-escalation, Aggression Management, CPR/BLS.
