Coordinates and reports on PSOM main campus infectious waste removal (“Bio”). Performs responsibilities consistent with all policies and procedures outlined in the guidelines for bio-hazardous waste removal and enforces these policies. Trains new staff in policies and procedures. Verifies and signs pickup manifests for forwarding to the central office and EHRS. Operates, implements, trains, and oversees the effective operation of the automated tracking system. Investigates and reconciles discrepancies between vendor counts and internal counts of packed boxes. Coordinates with Distribution Services Supervisors, training and evaluation of Building Service Assistants assigned to Bio. Initiates new lab service on request. Removes waste for the PSOM, ensures safe transport, and packs for shipment. Ensures proper weighing, scanning, and reporting on all collected barcode data. Dispenses collection containers for waste and sharps. Schedules periodic staff cleaning of all large collection containers. Accurately collects pre-determined and as-requested data and reports for submission to Distribution Services’ management. Assures that members of the PSOM community receive the highest quality service from the bio-hazardous waste removal function within Space Planning & Operations’ Distribution Services. Note: This is a working Lead Technician Position and Lead Techs may be required to cover overtime, frequently with little notice. The job requires walking, standing, use of standard tools, lifting, and moving of boxed waste. The job requires the ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted. The Lead Tech must be physically able to perform all functions of this position. This position is considered “essential.”
