Lead Teaching Artists (ages 24+) lead their Teaching Artist(s) and a team of Apprentices (ages 14-21) to create public art and community impact project on a seasonal basis (Summer). This job is available to artists with advanced technical skills who are excited to share their craft with the next generation. Seasonal project teams most often paint massive outdoor murals, but past projects have also included creative writing, dance, fashion, filmmaking, photography, and research. Lead Teaching Artists’ objective is twofold: to lead the successful completion of a seasonal project; and to nurture their Apprentices’ skills in collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, goal orientation, and growth orientation. Lead Teaching Artist wages are $34.72 an hour. Lead Teaching Artists work 35 hours per week for an 8-week period, beginning in early June. Scheduled work hours are subject to change owing to inclement weather, but are typically between 8am – 4:30pm, Monday through Thursday. Lead Teaching Artists must attend mandatory orientation the week of May 26-29 between 9am – 5pm (exact hours TBD).
