Lead - Part-Time .50 - Special Education Teacher - Elementary Harding Avenue Elementary School School Year 2025-2026 Do you have a passion for helping students? Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is now accepting applications for a part-time lead elementary special education teaching position available at Harding Avenue Elementary School. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The part-time department lead for Special Education at Harding Avenue Elementary School oversees the department to ensure eligibilities and IEP's are in compliance and collaborates with administration within the building to develop schedules for students with disabilities. The lead also collaborates with the School Board office, administration, and staff to develop and implement an instructional program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student.

Requirements

  • Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher’s License with appropriate endorsement in area to which assigned
  • Have knowledge of medical aspects of disabilities and their implications for instruction
  • Have knowledge of resources and techniques needed to integrate special education students into the least restrictive environment
  • Have experience in curriculum development and developing lesson plans
  • Have experience and expertise in using technology in education
  • Have experience in fostering an inclusive learning environment
  • Have experience or working familiarity with Google Drive for instruction, collaboration and course work
  • Have effective written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with parents and families
  • Demonstrate the ability to work and collaborate with a team of other teachers
  • Ability to be dependable and punctual

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced or have working familiarity with virtual education
