About The Position

We are looking for a Lead Teacher for Reading Instruction to join our Easterseals NH team! The individual in this key position will support, supplement and extend classroom reading instruction, and work collaboratively to implement a quality reading program that is research-based, data driven and meets the needs of students. The Lead Teacher for Reading Instruction will have specialized knowledge of reading assessment and reading diagnosis that is vital for developing, implementing, and evaluating the literacy program in general, and in designing instruction for individual students. The successful candidate will be able to assess the reading strengths and needs of students and effectively explain that information to teachers, special education case managers, parents/guardians, school district representatives and specialized personnel such speech-language pathologists or clinicians. Additional responsibilities include: Participate in on-going professional development to enhance job efficacy. This should include PD intended to maintain current knowledge of best practices in reading assessment, instruction and intervention as well as the development of other skills associated with the role, such as collaboration with other professionals and skills in presenting training opportunities for other educators. Development will also reflect the current initiatives of the Gammon Academy and the overall Agency. Guide the learning process toward closing the achievement gaps in the area of reading for students. Analyze data and provide instructional plans of action to increase reading and comprehension levels. Support teachers in developing their knowledge and skills to improve reading outcomes for students. Collaborate with school administrators to ensure that school wide practices in reading assessment and instruction are continuously improving.

Requirements

  • Experienced Educator License with Special Education endorsement
  • Bachelor's Degree (Master’s Preferred) from an approved program
  • Experience delivering direct reading instruction
  • Knowledge of a variety of reading assessments and instructional tools
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
