About The Position

AutoZone is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer specializing in Telecom Infrastructure, with advanced expertise in automation and unified communications. This leader will architect, plan, and deploy robust telecom solutions, driving the modernization of AutoZone's communications environment, especially through Webex Calling and Cisco platforms. The role is critical for ensuring scalable, secure, and highly available telecom services across hybrid and multi-cloud environments Knowledge of SIP Trunking and Session Border Controllers (SBCs), preferably with experience in AT&T BVoIP and IP Flex solutions utilizing Ribbon Core SBCs and Cisco CUBE platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of network/telecom engineering experience, with at least 3-5 years focused on cloud and automation-driven telecom solutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Webex Calling, Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco gateways, and related collaboration tools.
  • Hands-on experience with automation frameworks (Terraform, Python, Ansible) for telecom/network operations.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking (GCP or Azure), hybrid and multi-cloud architectures.
  • Advanced knowledge of routing protocols (SIP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, TCP/IP, NAT) and security protocols (TACACS/RADIUS).
  • Experience with Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela), Meraki, and network management systems (SolarWinds, NetQoS).
  • Familiarity with virtualization (VMware ESX) and orchestration tools.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP/CCIE Collaboration, Webex Calling Specialist, Google Network certification, Generative AI) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of telecom and unified communications infrastructure, focusing on Webex Calling and Cisco technologies.
  • Architect and implement automation solutions for telecom operations to improve reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Cisco voice and collaboration platforms, including integration with cloud and hybrid environments like Cisco CCE and other contact center solutions.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and frameworks (e.g. Terraform, Python, etc).. for network and telecom provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee the deployment and lifecycle of IP telephony, conferencing, and contact center solutions, ensuring seamless user experiences.
  • Provide third-tier support and participate in on-call rotations, resolving complex telecom and network issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align telecom strategies with business objectives and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Mentor and guide team members on best practices in telecom infrastructure and automation.
