About The Position

Our Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for leading and mentoring a team of Systems Engineers to ensure consistent on-time and within-budget delivery of high-quality products. The Systems Engineering team is responsible for requirements, verification, architecture, design to cost, product safety, human factors, reliability, maintainability, diagnostics, cybersecurity, mission engineering, and design integration. As a Lead Systems Engineer, you will: Design and develop capability enhancements for combat vehicle systems Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise to SE team Create and guides project planning to include milestone and technical reviews Develop and maintain Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) Manage team performance and provide coaching for successful outcomes Conceptualize and assess solutions to complex problems Conduct trade studies to compare different hardware design options and select the most appropriate solutions. Exert influence on product roadmap as a key contributor to align technology and business objectives Manage SE workload and prioritize tasks, working with functional team for resource allocation Maintain and enhance reputation with our customer, program engineering management, and senior leadership. Guides the preparation of assigned proposals, including responsibility for technical and cost content. Maintains state-of-the-art familiarity with industry practices, trends, and applications to enhance the organization’s technical capabilities. Advises senior management on new developments and evolving organizational needs, including required technical competencies. Applies technical experience and leadership skills throughout all phases of acquisition. Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies. Manage Control Accounts and assigned Work Packages, including developing detailed plans and budget allocations with robust quantifiable back-up data. Provide timely and accurate status reports, including details on schedule and cost variances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science and a minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience. If a graduate degree is also held, a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years of program technical leadership experience across program life-cycle.
  • Expertise in combat systems, with experience leading hardware/software integration and qualification.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management and systems engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation).
  • Experience performing systems engineering activities across the development cycle (analysis/decomposition/derivation/allocation of requirements, system modeling & simulation, system design & development, system integration & test).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of combat vehicles.
  • Knowledge of EVMS principles and experience being responsible for CAM activities.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
  • Active Secret Security clearance.
  • Knowledgeable in Model Based Systems Engineering.
  • M.S. degree in Electrical, Software, Mechanical or Systems Engineering.
