About The Position

The Lead Systems Administrator role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, patching, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. The Lead Systems Administrator will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.

Requirements

  • Windows Server/Desktop Administrators: Strong working knowledge of application packaging and deployment techniques.
  • Strong working knowledge of desktop virtualization technologies Citrix Xendesktop, Citrix XenApp, and RDP.
  • Microsoft Windows operating systems and associated components with high proficiency in installation, maintenance and operational support in large scale enterprise environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Registry, and ability to remotely query or modify settings.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills to troubleshoot infrastructure problems specific to their area of technical expertise as well as across technical disciplines.
  • Strong working knowledge of scripting languages PowerShell and VBScript or other tools to enable workflow automation.
  • Strong organization skills to balance and prioritize work assignments for team members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead as well as work as a contributing member of a multi-cultural, multi-location, team.
  • Experience working in large scale enterprise environments with an understanding of ITIL process and functions.
  • Generally requires BS Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of hands-on technical experience supporting some combination of X86 server, storage or networking infrastructure.
  • 7+ years working with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Citrix, or Hyper-V.
  • 4+ years of successfully leading complex technical projects and providing technical direction to other technical personnel.
  • Microsoft Windows operating system Citrix, or App-V virtualization technologies

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with deployment tools such as Microsoft SCCM, Desired State Configuration, Altiris, or Puppet is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Use ServiceNow ticketing system or assignments from management to receive/assign work assignments.
  • Maintains configuration and delivery of virtual applications and desktops for the enterprise.
  • Provides overall technical leadership to team members.
  • Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced personnel.
  • Leads the design, implementation, and maintenance of departmental workflow automation processes, procedures and standards, which ultimately are used to provide the virtual application service offerings to business unit customers.
  • Provides technical solutions and facilitates escalated support with vendors for non-routine, highly complex technical issues.
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining, and deployment of OS Images.
  • Regularly leads meetings with business consumers to identify application needs and coordinate support.
  • Plays a principal role in the evaluation of products used to provide server and storage services for appropriateness of cost and technical feasibility.
  • Primarily responsible for performance and capacity planning reviews with management.
  • Required to provide on-call support during off-duty hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays on a scheduled/rotating basis.
