About the position

The Cerner Laboratory Application Analyst is responsible for the design, implementation, oversight, and ongoing management of the software applications associated with all Laboratory platforms with ongoing hospital operations. This position is essential in supporting Care Delivery, Cerner Millennium, one of the top 13 applications utilized in care delivery. Cerner Millennium is a lab application that handles and oversees more than 150 million lab orders and processes over 400 million results each year across various KP care sites, including hospitals and clinics. The analyst will primarily focus on Open Port/Engine Scripting, and Careaware Traditional/Cloud MDIs, troubleshooting foreign system interfaces and lab medical devices.

  • Plans and performs complex system configuration.
  • Participates in installs, upgrades, or decommissions of designated systems, products, and infrastructure.
  • Creates documentation of new and existing system configuration and procedural information.
  • Plans the implementation of hardware and software changes into environments.
  • Supports vendor support activities as appropriate.
  • Participates in and influences change management processes.
  • Defines the maintenance, modification, and documentation of complex and advanced applications.
  • Supports the development of guidelines to prevent and/or resolve recurring problems.
  • Recommends and executes performance tuning and optimization activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years experience in application support.
  • Minimum one (1) year in an informal leadership role working with IT or operational teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science, Education, Business, Health Care or related field.
  • Minimum six (6) years working in IT or operations.
  • Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
