Surgical Technologists assist surgeons and RNs in the operating room, helping ensure quality patient care during various procedures. In this role, you will perform many tasks, such as checking supplies and equipment, setting up sterile tables and cleaning instruments for terminal sterilization. Surgery would not be possible if not for your efforts and support. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM - 3:30PM.

Requirements

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Surgical Technology Program accredited through CAAHEP or ABHES OR completion of Military Surgical Technology Program OR Surgical Technologist Certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
One year of experience in a Surgical Technologist role for internal applicants
Two years of experience in a Surgical Technologist role for external applicants

Responsibilities

Monitor, direct and oversee the activities of assigned Surgical Technologists in the OR.
Perform duties of a Surgical Technologist as needed.
Provide patient care in the OR by performing in a scrub role.
Assist in the circulating role as needed.
Collaborate with SPD to maintain instruments and specialty trays.
Provide performance documentation.
Assume department leadership in the absence of the supervisor.
Review surgical schedules and service line shift reports daily to ensure resources are available for surgical procedures.
Seek ways to eliminate errors, reduce turnaround time, maintain workflow and improve service.
Perform and oversee precepting.
