Get to Know Your Team: Portneuf Medical Center (PMC) is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with 205 beds, serving as the region's Level II Trauma Center and tertiary referral hospital, and is home to the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group and Portneuf Air Rescue. PMC has a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, an adult intensive care unit, nationally recognized orthopedic services, a full suite of cardiac care, Center of Excellence recognized surgeons, imaging, primary and specialty care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required, or graduation from an accredited Surgical Technician course or equivalent.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • Previous OR experience.
  • Knowledge and skill of the function and handling of supportive/adaptive patient equipment and devices.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Anesthesia Tech or Certified Surgical Tech

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the instruments and equipment within the service line with a focus on sterility and best practices.
  • Responsible for ensuring that staff understand and exhibit the basic principles of maintaining a surgical field, handle equipment appropriately, and keep informed of the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning and sterilizing equipment between cases.
  • In collaboration with the RN Service Line Lead, the incumbent is responsible for the education and follow-up on appropriate implant handling and documentation.
  • Assists with ordering and procurement of special service equipment and supplies, in a timely manner, to ensure proper sterilization.
  • Assists with educational activities and staff development programs.
  • Acts as a technical resource in a leadership role to address clinical performance, outcomes, patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, and cost containment.
