The Lead Surgical Support Technician aids in the facilitation of patient care by working concurrently with the surgical support techs, OR staff, Anesthesiologist, Surgeons, and all support staff. Cleaning and troubleshooting surgical equipment. Operating room turnovers and terminal cleaning Surgical positioning of patient under the direction of OR team Preparing and assisting with patient transport Acquiring needed surgical equipment prior to beginning of cases, as per each surgeon and case preference Assisting with setup of equipment in operating room suite Assisting anesthesia provider in patient procedures Moving and transferring of patients Communicates effectively with all levels of clinical staff (surgeon, anesthesia, nursing staff and ancillary staff) Safely prepares and plans for transport of post-surgical patients. Effectively and promptly communicates and responds. Safe transport and setup of various surgical gasses (nitrogen, oxygen, CO2, etc.) Basic understanding and of surgical procedures and processes, along with types of equipment used for each procedure, as per preference of surgeon. Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Health related education, experience, or certification
  • American Heart Association BLS, for Heath Care Provider
  • Operating Room experience required
  • This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
  • The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Threshold Requirements are required and completed yearly basis, Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation, TB/PPD, Surveillance Program.
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).
