About The Position

As a Lead Surgical OR Tech-Surgery Center with Willis Surgicenter, you will be part of an organization devoted to giving back to the community. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you will assist with the provision of safe and effective patient care, which includes direct patient care, scrubbing and assisting the surgeon at the operative field, and ensuring the surgical room is prepared and turned over between cases. You will also coordinate activities of OR techs and clinical support staff, providing direction and assistance to ensure patient care meets regulatory guidelines and is appropriate for the patient population.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Valid BLS Certification upon employment (Online certification not acceptable).

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of applicable clinical experience.
  • Lead or Supervisory experience.
  • One year of experience in an operating room setting (preferably in an ambulatory surgery center).

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates necessary practical, technical or specialized knowledge and skills required for the role of the surgical technician.
  • Assists in preparing the operative/procedure suite for surgery by checking and gathering supplies, equipment, and instruments.
  • Ensures availability of adequate supplies, equipment and instruments for scheduled cases.
  • Utilizes physician preference cards to set up each case and updates cards when indicated.
  • Assists with patient positioning, skin preparation, and surgical draping according to surgeon's protocol.
  • Assists the surgeon during a surgical procedure with a high degree of efficiency.
  • Escalates situations requiring care beyond the scope of practice of an OR Tech.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services, staff meetings, and participates in emergency drills.
  • Participates in the orientation of new employees.
