Position Purpose: Provides Supplier Quality support to assigned Product Platform(s) at a manufacturing site. Ensures compliance to established procedures and processes for QNC/SCAR transactions, Facilitating, and participating in on-site and off-site Supplier inspections, and training in the areas of raw material control, material disposition, and material supplier management. The position also provides support for department MSR and RSR trials, including trial plan review, material verification, recording impact of trial materials on processes and optimizing where possible, and sample collection. This role may also support with site quality organization in objectives, A3 and quality tasks.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, science, logistics or related discipline and/or 5+ years of equivalent experience in manufacturing.
  • Excellent statistical analysis and quality assurance skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of manufacturing and engineering.
  • Good working knowledge of quality control standards and government compliance.
  • Experience with manufacturing and production processes and engineering principles.
  • Ability to provide guidance to improve process efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills.
  • Technical quality skills in at least two of the following areas: CAPA/problem-solving, applied statistics, risk management/FMEA, change management, and/or demonstrated application of LEAN/Continuous Improvement skills.
  • LEAN Six Sigma Blue belt or higher strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review our manufacturing specifications to identify materials needed for production.
  • Communicate with vendors regularly to address any concerns and foster an environment that facilitates continual improvement in working relationships.
  • Visit vendor facilities and observing the manufacturing environment to review and assess their procedures.
  • Perform regular quality control audits to ensure vendors continue to work in compliance with company and federal standards.
  • Review incoming supplies and products from vendors to check for defects and ensure quality.
  • Conduct tests and assessments on products to identify quality issues.
  • Maintain a supplier database and include performance evaluations and quality control audits in the database for in-house access by company and manufacturing management personnel.
  • Maintain detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates.
  • Assist with logistics, including communications with vendors when there are packaging and receiving issues when materials arrive at receiving dock.
  • Serve as a liaison between our company's senior management and the vendors to identify quality issues and come up with solutions.
  • Assist site with quality tasks such as change management support; investigation and resolution of non-conforming product and material events, significant consumer complaints, or other CAPAs; manufacturing data analysis; quality risk management; start-up protocol/process validation/verification planning; and routine problem-solving.
  • May assist in or lead small to moderate-sized projects.
