About The Position

The Lead Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation of an assigned unit or center for Wolverine Human Services, with a mission of “Helping Children and Families to be Victors.” This role involves direct shift supervision, monitoring, managing, and coordinating daily routine treatment programs and schedules, and ensuring outings are planned weekly. The supervisor coordinates and/or conducts treatment activities, maintains and monitors treatment programs following clinical directives, and participates in/plans outdoor programming. Key responsibilities include directing staff scheduling to maintain proper staff-to-child ratios, coordinating information flow to relevant departments, and managing Paycor timecards and annual leave for supervised employees. The Lead Supervisor consults with the Director on operational needs and treatment program requirements, attends weekly Clinical Meetings and bi-weekly staff meetings, and supervises Youth Care Worker Supervisors and Youth Care Workers. They also monitor the implementation of the point store, point and level system, and coordinate with the Program Manager for on-call supervision after hours and on weekends. The position requires working weekends and/or second shifts, maintaining awareness of client behavior, supervising meals, and being available for direct observation of treatment staff and coordinating staff training needs. This is an exempt position for purposes of compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1967.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of work experience in a child caring institution OR two years of college from an accredited college or university and 3 years of work experience in a child caring institution OR high school diploma and 4 years of work experience in a child caring institution
  • Physical health adequate for performance of work
  • Ability to successfully complete a CPI - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Seminar provided by the Agency
  • Must be emotionally stable and of good moral character
  • Excellent writing, assessment intervention, evaluation, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to have visual control of a group of youth as well as the ability to respond immediately and to visually observe behavior
  • Ability to coordinate scheduling and operational concerns associated with a Residential Program
  • Ability to Work with a Diverse and Multi-cultural Client and Staff Population

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of group work in a residential setting, behavior modification techniques, and point level token economy preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall operation of assigned unit or center for Wolverine Human Services
  • Responsible for direct shift supervision when on site
  • Monitor, manage, and coordinate daily routine treatment program and schedules
  • Ensure outings are planned and scheduled weekly
  • Coordinates and /or conducts the treatment activities in a unit and ensures that treatment plans and activities are implemented
  • Maintain and monitor treatment program for residents, following directives from clinical team and direct supervisor
  • Participates/conducts/plans outdoor programming for the cabin/unit
  • Directs staff scheduling patterns to secure a proper staff-to-child ratio per group. Arranges appropriate combinations of staff to ensure good team functioning and optimal programming
  • Coordinate information and direct that information to proper person or department, i.e. transportation, treatment strategies, facility needs
  • Maintain and monitor Paycor timecards and annual leave for all employees under your supervision
  • Consult with Director regarding the center’s operational needs and treatment program requirements
  • Meet with staff on a routine basis; attend weekly Clinical Meetings and bi-weekly staff meetings
  • Supervise Youth Care Worker Supervisors and Youth Care Workers in their roles.
  • Monitors the effective implementation of the point store, point and level system, and works with Clinical Manager in solving programmatic problems
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager to provide on-call supervision for center after hours and on weekends
  • Work weekends and/or second shift to manage and supervise a unit or site
  • Maintain an awareness of client behavior and attitude changes in all areas
  • Supervise meals when applicable
  • Be available for direct observation of treatment staff and coordinate staff training needs in conjunction with the team and the team supervisor. Participate in regular staff development training programs.
  • Ability to have visual control of a group of youth as well as the ability to respond immediately and to visually observe behavior
