About The Position

Supports the preparation, organization, and distribution of meals for children participating in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) across Chautauqua County. Ensures food safety, cleanliness, and compliance with program guidelines, while coordinating kitchen duties and supporting food delivery logistics. Temporary Full-time position For the duration of the Summer Food Program : Beginning date: 6/29/26 ending date: 8/21/26 $16.84/ hourly up to 35 hours/weekly Mon-Friday 7:00 am- 2:30 pm

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or HS diploma/GED
  • 2-3 years’ experience with the Summer Food program or 2-3 years supervisory experience in the food service industry.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
  • Prior experience organizing or assisting in the preparation and distribution of meals, preferably in a program or institutional setting.
  • Familiarity with completing paperwork and tracking food temperatures, inventory, or deliveries
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to provide consistent even tempered customer service at all times
  • Reliable Transportation
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing required, subject to random drug and alcohol testing for cause.
  • Works compassionately with a diverse population.
  • Ability to lift up to and including 25-50 pounds of physical effort

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and supervises the daily production of food and meals to ensure accurate preparation, packaging, and timely delivery to designated sites.
  • Assist in the preparation of breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily in accordance with SFSP menu, ensuring all special dietary needs and food allergy requirements are strictly followed.
  • Follow safe and sanitary food handling and kitchen standards as required by health department codes; maintain cleanliness of kitchen and storage areas.
  • Organize food for delivery, including loading food and supplies into vehicles.
  • Test and record food temperatures at designated intervals.
  • Assist with stocking and inventory rotation.
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork related to food service and delivery.
  • Maintain confidentiality, adhere to ethical standards, and represent the agency’s mission.
  • Provide professional and respectful customer service at all times.
  • Promote and contribute to integrated service delivery and client self-sufficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
