About The Position

Lead Strategic Account Manager - Data Centers provides strategic leadership and functional oversight for all activities related to designated data center accounts. This role drives the administration and compliance of individual customer contracts, including Electric Service Agreements and Customer Reimbursement Agreements, ensuring obligations are met by both Alliant Energy and the customer. Operating under minimal supervision, the Lead Strategic Account Manager collaborates closely with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless execution, strategic alignment, and customer satisfaction. This role proactively identifies and develops new opportunities for partnership and expansion within the data center sector, leveraging deep utility industry knowledge and cross-functional coordination. As the primary point of contact for data center clients, this position builds and sustains strategic business relationships and credibility with customers, customer vendors, and field personnel.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Manages strategic relationships with large energy customers under Individual Contract Rate (ICR) agreements by resolving complex billing discrepancies per ICR guidelines, coordinating operational execution, and driving initiatives in energy efficiency, renewables, electrification, and emerging technologies to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term growth.
  • Communicates complex concepts with clarity, serving as the primary liaison and trusted advisor for all ICR customers, ensuring seamless communication, proactive engagement, and strategic alignment with customer business objectives.
  • Represents Alliant Energy at state and national committees or boards, acting as a strategic advocate and thought leader for both the company and its large customers.
  • Monitors and enforces compliance of critical contracts, including Customer Reimbursement Agreements, Electric Service Agreements, Credit Guaranties, Temporary/Construction Power Agreements, and Fiber Agreements ensuring risk mitigation and operational integrity.
  • Collaborates directly with customers to identify and advance partnership opportunities in sustainability, renewable energy programs, and efficiency solutions that deliver measurable environmental and operational value.
  • Demonstrates advanced expertise in customer management, billing, and operations IT systems to optimize data center service delivery. Maintains a structured and accessible repository of client contracts and documentation within ECRM, enabling rapid and accurate responses to inquiries and operational needs.
  • Interprets complex business issues and leads process innovation, recommending best practices and driving change in procedures, strategies, and technologies. Leads cross-functional teams in solving intricate challenges and developing new programs to enhance customer experience.
  • Promotes and enforces safety standards across data center operations, serving as a key liaison with clients to communicate expectations, ensure compliance, and proactively address risks. Partners with internal teams and client stakeholders to foster a culture of safety and operational excellence.
  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy Values and help deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
