About The Position

At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Instructional Support Assistant/Lead Sterile Supply Technician is a valuable member of our team, who assumes the responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Central Sterile Supply for the assigned shift in his/her absence, determining shift staffing needs, and assigning overtime as needed. The incumbent will collaborate with the Assistant Director of Central Sterile Supply in maintaining inventory levels of all prostheses and implants, assuring the availability of range of sizes, sterile and ready for use. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior communication and organizational skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence. Duties may include the following but are not limited to: Be responsible for assuring completion of daily tasks in the area assigned. Possess the necessary skills to communicate in a professional manner with the user areas such as the Operating Room, Labor and Delivery and the Emergency. Be assigned to a specific service and work as an active member of the Supervisor/Operating clinician team. Review case carts along with the Assistant Director to assure accuracy and provide necessary components for individual Operating Room cases. Work with the In-Service Educator in the orientation of new staff, aiding in the hands-on learning of tasks in the clinical setting and making assessments to instructors on the performance of a new employee.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in Central Sterile Supply with instrumentation, sterilization, case cart and implant experience.
  • CRCST or CSPDT Certification or evidence of employment as a central service technician in a healthcare facility for a period of one year occurring within January 1, 2011 to January 1, 2015.
