Perform technical duties associated with the delivery of pharmaceutical services, including, but not limited to: medication distribution, inventory management, Cross-Functional Proficiency, Technical Expertise, and other duties, within scope of practice, as dictated by departmental need. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree desirable. Successful completion of an academic or military hospital pharmacy technician training course preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years prior hospital pharmacy technician experience required. Previous IV room experience required.
  • Current registration/licensure or eligible for registration (obtained prior to start date) as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of employment, as outlined by the respective State regulatory agencies. Active Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification, or equivalent, is required on, or within 12 months of, date of hire.
  • Proficiency in mathematical calculations. Ability to effectively work with computer and technology equipment, including the ability to perform basic troubleshooting related to said technology. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong knowledge of USP Chapters 797, 800 and related IV room workflow.

Responsibilities

  • IV Room Responsibilities
  • Design internal systems/procedures to ensure an efficient and cost effective workflow.
  • Staff education and training
  • Maintains and updates IV room technician job responsibility in collaboration with leadership
  • Coaches Pharmacy Technician Staff involved in IV compounding to ensure compliance per departmental IV policies and procedures.
  • Provides timely feedback to direct manager as needed
  • IV Inventory:
  • Maintains adequate drug inventory levels on a daily basis.
  • Participates in departmental projects as assigned.
  • Participates in projects as assigned and ensures project progress/completion in a timely fashion as observed by supervisors and documented by project progress/completion.
