Department Sterile Processing Job Summary Under the general management & supervision of the Sterile Processing manager. The Lead technician performs and supports activities in the Sterile Processing department, in reference to scheduled and unscheduled surgical case management and provides direction and guidance, to include all Ancillary and Ambulatory departments. The lead technician participates as a team member by performing all Sterile Processing duties. The Lead technician assumes department management duties in absence of the Sterile Processing department shift supervisor. Ensures all Surgical, Ambulatory clinics, and Ancillary department instruments are available for daily cases. The Lead technician helps to develop technicians to ensure appropriate decontamination, assembly and sterilization duties. Essential Functions: Supervises functions of staff in department in the absents of the shift supervisor. Assist with all duties and procedures for decontamination, assembly and sterilization of instruments and equipment. Maintain a safe, functional and effective work environment for patients, staff and other individuals. (25%) Responsible for the safe and efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and equipment. provides direct and effective supervision to ensure timely delivery of clean and/or sterile instrumentation and medical equipment. (25%) Maintain adequate department staffing levels to ensure daily operation services to the Operating Room. Provide feedback for use in staff probationary and annual Performance Evaluation. Accept suggestions for improved performance and meet established deadlines. (25%) Provide ongoing communications with staff and management of all Ambulatory & Ancillary departments on as assigned. The leads will provide a forum for staff involvement in problem identification and resolution. (25%)
