About The Position

The Lead Sterile Processing Tech position is located in the Sterile Processing Department in Chicago, IL. This is a full-time role with working hours from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, requiring rotating weekends and holidays. The position involves assisting in the management of the department, ensuring the availability of necessary items and supplies, and overseeing daily departmental needs to provide sterile processed materials and equipment for patient care.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association upon hire.
• Two (2) years’ experience in healthcare sterile processing or surgical/procedural area.

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) years’ experience as a lead or experience in staff education.
• Proficiency in Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Assist in running the department when the supervisor is unavailable.
• Inform management of items and supplies needed to order.
• Assist in locating any needed instrumentation and adjust workflow as needed to keep up with OR demand.
• Oversee the departmental needs on a daily basis.
• Provide hospital and affiliated facilities with sterile processed materials and equipment.
• Execute established procedures for decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and surgical case cart setup practices.
• Ensure quality product for patient care by following established procedures.
• Place sterile items in appropriate areas for distribution, ensuring accurate labeling by department.
