JOB SUMMARY Responsible for day to day operations and prioritizes work flows, within SPS department, on their specific shift. Ensures staff members adhere to SPS policies and standard work while performing their assigned daily tasks. In coordination with SPS Technician 3, provides training and competency validation checks for new staff. Maintains a thorough knowledge of instrumentation, equipment, utilization, and sterile processing. Performs a variety of processing duties at an advanced level, including decontamination, instrument assembly, packaging, sterilization and case cart assembly. Ensures that all required daily documentation is accurate and complete for efficient distribution of high quality sterile products to effectively meet customer expectations. Works in collaboration with peri-operative services to provide appropriate surgical instrumentation. Leads daily shift huddle and maintains Lean Visual Management Board. Participates in quality safety council meetings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of SPS experience
  • Current "Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification" from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Inc. (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM required.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English required.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Must obtain a minimum of 10 CEU’s (continuous education units) per year.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SPM, EPIC, and Microsoft Office
