We are looking for a customer-facing Systems Engineer to serve as the technical architect for our US Marine Corps (USMC) growth strategy! In this role, you will bridge the gap between operational requirements and engineering realities, directly supporting Business Development (BD) in translating our pivot to a "platform company" into combat-relevant capabilities for the Marine Corps. You will lead the technical strategy for major proposals and high-visibility demonstrations (e.g., Modern Day Marine), ensuring our solutions align with Force Design and Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations (EABO) concepts.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent years of years
  • Demonstrated experience writing Technical Volumes for DoD proposals (RFI/RFP responses).
  • Prior experience with Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) or Combat Development and Integration (CD&I).
  • Understanding of the MAGTF (Marine Air-Ground Task Force) Information Warfighting concept.
  • Ability to create Operational Views (OV-1s) and System Views (SV-1s) that visually communicate complex mission fabrics to non-technical decision-makers.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting "live fire" demos under tight deadlines for VIP audiences.
  • Must have experience in understand and knowledge or Joint Fires Networks (JFN).
  • Current active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance.
  • Opent to 50% domestic and international travel
  • US citizenship required
  • Remote role or open to this person working out of a Viasat office

Responsibilities

  • Tailor technical solutions that support EABO and Stand-in Forces (SIF), ensuring our platform capabilities meet the size, weight, and power (SWaP) constraints of mobile Marine units.
  • Own the technical execution of industry trade show demonstrations and customer field trials. You will integrate hardware and software to showcase "live" capabilities in relevant tactical scenarios.
  • Proposal Technical Authority: Lead the development of technical volumes and solution architectures for USMC-specific solicitations, translating complex engineering data into operational advantages (e.g., "Why this architecture saves lives in the littorals").
  • Act as the interpreter between our software/network engineers and USMC customers (MCSC, CD&I), ensuring our product roadmap aligns with emerging Marine Corps requirements for contested environments.
  • Experience with Data Interoperability standards (e.g., COT/cursor-on-target translation) to ensure sensor data flows seamlessly from the tactical edge back to the outcome provider.
  • Have knowledge of Signature Management and LPI/LPD (Low Probability of Intercept/Detection). You must understand how to architect systems that minimize RF footprint to support survivability inside the Weapons Engagement Zone (WEZ).
  • Experience integrating heterogeneous tactical waveforms. The ability to blend commercial SATCOM with tactical radios (HF/VHF/UHF) and Link-16 into a unified transport layer.
  • Understanding of PACE planning automation. designing systems that automatically route traffic over the most secure/available link without manual operator intervention.
