Purpose: We are seeking a Lead Solutions Architect to drive the design and delivery of AI-enabled solutions across Athene’s enterprise platforms and operational workflows. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will define architecture, build and prototype solutions, and guide engineering teams in delivering production-ready systems. You approach problems from a systems perspective—understanding how applications, data, and AI capabilities connect across the enterprise. You build practical, secure, and scalable solutions that operate effectively within a regulated environment. As Athene expands its use of generative and agentic AI to support automation and decision-making, this role will play a key part in shaping how these capabilities are integrated across business-critical systems, including those supporting annuity processing and servicing. About the Platform: Athene’s enterprise platforms support the processing and servicing of insurance products and operational workflows across the organization. AI-enabled capabilities—including generative and agentic AI—will enhance automation, decision-making, and operational efficiency while integrating with existing systems and data platforms.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with 7+ years of relevant technical or professional experience.
• Experience designing and delivering AI-enabled applications or platforms
• Strong background in cloud-native and distributed systems
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into enterprise applications or workflows
• Solid software engineering foundation with experience in production systems
• Experience building scalable APIs, services, and data integrations
• Ability to lead technical design and guide engineering teams
• Systems thinker: Understands how applications, data, and services interact across complex environments
• AI-enabled builder: Applies AI capabilities to enhance engineering and business workflows
• Operationally focused: Designs for reliability, security, and observability
• Pragmatic: Balances innovation with real-world business impact

• Experience with generative or agent-based AI systems
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
• Experience in financial services, insurance, or regulated industries

Responsibilities

• Architecture for AI-enabled enterprise platforms and operational workflows
• Technical direction for integrating AI capabilities with applications, APIs, and data systems
• Scalable integration patterns connecting AI services to business processes
• Engineering standards for secure, reliable, and production-ready AI systems
• Lead Technical Delivery Design and implement AI-enabled solutions across enterprise platforms
• Define architectures incorporating generative and agent-based AI into workflows
• Prototype and build services that support business operations
• Review designs and code to ensure scalability, security, and maintainability
• Architect Scalable Systems Design distributed systems across modern cloud environments
• Build and integrate services with enterprise applications and data platforms
• Ensure secure access, resilience, and strong system design
• Enable seamless integration between AI services and operational systems
