For more information, please visit freewheel.com. We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our growing Application Platform (incl. API management, Auth, and Service Connectivity). This team will be solving common problems of FreeWheel API applications, including API management, Authentication, micro-service governance, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Extensively use a combination of cutting-edge AWS services, open-sourced software, and internally developed software to develop solutions to Freewheel specific API management, database application problems
  • Manage, improve and build development framework and tools, in addition to developing and maintaining specific features
  • Technical design documentation and provide feedback in design and code reviews
  • Implement software solutions according to FreeWheel engineering standards
  • Implement automated unit and integration tests to confirm correctness and prevent regressions
  • Implement appropriate instrumentation and monitoring
  • Implement bug fixes and upgrade components, libraries, infrastructure, etc. as necessary
  • Ensure delivered software solutions are always up
  • Identify technical challenges to scalability and extensibility of system and design solution to mitigate
  • Providing mentoring and guidance to junior members on team. Help train new members on the team and work closely with the leaders. Bring in industry best practices to continue improving engineering excellence in the team
  • Leading the development and implementation of innovative software and web applications, ensuring they align with business objectives and user requirements
  • Integrating new systems seamlessly with existing infrastructure, focusing on scalability, security, and continuous performance improvement
  • Mentoring team members and providing technical training, fostering a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing and professional growth
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful application integration, advocating for best practices in software development
  • Participating in or leading peer programming sessions, design sprints, or prototyping sessions
  • Driving the creation, maintenance, and accessibility of comprehensive documentation for all development activities
  • Monitoring application performance metrics rigorously, utilizing data to guide enhancements and ensure delivery aligns with project goals
  • Providing expert technical advice and support to internal stakeholders and external partners, effectively communicating complex concepts
  • Collaborating with the Quality Assurance team to confirm applications meet rigorous testing standards and fulfil technical requirements
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
