Lead Software Engineer The Software Engineer Lead position must have a solid understanding of and experience in the implementation of the basic elements and protocols of software engineering/programming while working with others, building an agile team, leading changes, understanding what to build, and planning ahead. A great collaborator and a fast self-learner with great problem solving skills and troubleshooting skills, this role will be responsible to evaluate requirements and take complex problems to redefine them, re-scope them, and transform them into simple solutions. Must keep team's progress visible, getting to "Done", and drive test and development through iterations to implement quality code. Listen to people, gather feedback, and deliver results. Drive changes with Retrospectives and make continuous improvements. This role enhances the technical agility of Club Labs new product lines. Please Note: This position is hybrid; however, you must reside within driving distance of our offices in Coppell, TX to attend meetings and team collaboration. In addition, this role is expected to participate in an on-call rotation, shared among the team. We keep it balanced and manageable. ClubLabs is the digital acceleration team for Automobile Club of Southern California, also known as, AAA. We are the team responsible for building intuitive customer experiences across the organization’s insurance, membership, financial, emergency roadside, and travel services. We’re a team of engineers, designers, researchers and product managers within AAA delivering maximum value to our members and business for a smarter future. As our Lead Software Engineer, you will help us develop, test, enhance, and debug various member-facing applications on our website and mobile platforms. We currently have teams working on chatbots, self-service portals, login pages, sales and payment functions, and many other things in between. Your work here has an immediate impact on the ease of use for our 17 million members. What You’ll Do Every day you will begin with a standup to review your progress on your story so far, discuss any roadblocks you’re facing and make a plan to continue the work. Working in pairs, you will complete your story for the week. We do weekly iterations instead of sprints, and our stories are prioritized and pulled from a Kanban board. Using Visual Studio, JavaScript, Node.js, React, AWS, .net, or C#, you and your partner will fix a quick production issue, develop a new feature, or build something brand new. As lead engineer, you’ll also spend time each day checking in with other team members, up to 4, to help them with any specific coding issues as needed. You’ll also be coaching and mentoring them more broadly so that everyone on the team reaches their full potential.
