Caterpillar Inc. seeks a Lead Software Engineer at its facility located at 540 W Madison, Chicago, IL 60661. This role focuses on data quality evaluation of large sets of diverse data from IoT connected assets, our integrated network of dealers, and enterprise data. You will contribute to the definition and implementation of quality metrics, identification of data quality rules, and evaluation of their impact, as well as root cause analysis of data quality problems. Utilizing analytics and visualization methods, you will solve problems for Caterpillar's internal customers. The position requires prior experience in a business intelligence or quality role, proficiency in SQL, and development experience in Python and dashboard design. You will design, develop, and maintain Dealer and Enterprise quality dashboards and reports, providing analytics support to high-profile Helios Data Division Projects. You will use analytics methods to make recommendations to Designers, Product Owners, and Managers, and work independently without close supervision on medium to high complexity projects. Your responsibilities will include performing all necessary data-related tasks such as data design, data quality, metadata management, data governance, or data architecture. As a team lead, you will provide technical leadership, guidance, and assistance to other team members, working directly on complex problems and providing solutions aligned with the overall objectives of Cat Digital. You will understand and evaluate business requirements that impact the Caterpillar enterprise, dealership partners, and other internal and external customers. You will liaise with data creators to support project planning, training, and guidance on standards, ensuring the efficient creation and maintenance of high-quality data. Additionally, you will contribute to policies, procedures, and standards as well as technical requirements, creating the data management strategy and defining continuous improvement goals of data quality, governance, and processes. You will lead communication across various lines of businesses and technology partners to constantly monitor, collect, review, and roadmap business data requirements and related technology solutions. Compliance with the latest data standards supported by the company, brand, legal, and information security (data security and privacy compliance) will also be part of your responsibilities. You will maintain knowledge of functional technology of the data management systems as they change with upgrades and new releases, maintain existing data quality scorecard measurements, execute scorecards, and resolve exceptions with data owners and source systems. Your role will also involve designing robust, scalable database and data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) solutions, documenting data models for domains to be deployed, and developing data ingestion store specifications. You will create, update, and enhance metadata policies, processes, and catalogs, driving alignment and coordination of data governance efforts.
