About The Position

This opportunity is for a Lead Software Development Engineer for Audible's Consumer Domains group. We are the team that creates and powers Audible's applications, components and services for our global listeners across Audible and Amazon web. We are the home for tech talent that wants to grow Audible's market leading business and build the sites and services (APIs) across desktop and mobile devices. The team is comprised of developers who work in an agile environment and partner closely with Audible and Amazon tech teams, Product, UX and QA teams. This role is based in Newark, NJ. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • 3+ years of programming using a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design experience
  • 2+ years of contributing to new and current systems architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) experience
  • Interest in Web Application, Services Design & Architecture, SEO, Security, SNS, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, REST services and Javascript.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems, or experience managing teams
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithm design, statistics, and system design
  • Experience solving complex investigations or escalations
  • Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis, or experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results
  • Experience taking a leading role in building complex software or computing infrastructure that has been successfully delivered to customers
  • Experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines, or experience handling confidential information and maintaining professionalism in dealing with senior executives
  • Experience in delivering test frameworks, test tools, leading the QA projects and initiatives
  • Experience with AWS or cloud technologies
  • Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications, or experience with web-based applications and HTTP and experience working with REST API based services
  • Experience in a major technology area such as Compute, Storage, Database, Developer Tools, Machine Learning, Security or IoT
  • Experience creating and delivering written and oral communications for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing and coaching team members
  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers, or experience in professional, non-internship software development
  • Experience reading and understanding complex code

  • Stay on top of technology trends, tools, and approaches

Benefits

  • Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.
  • The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market.
  • Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
