JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective The Lead Skills Trainer will provide support, case management services, skills training, and one-on-one client care as outlined in the treatment plan. This position will maintain case records and documentation per Volunteers of America Northern Rockies (VOANR) Policies and Procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of training and/or experience in adult education, populations with learning disabilities, and/or severe mental illnesses.
  • Must be a current Certified Peer Specialist.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must obtain and maintain valid certifications for the following training within the first 30 days of employment. (Training for certifications will be offered on-site.)
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • MANDT

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with individuals experiencing mental illness and/or substance use disorders.
  • Experience working with individuals actively experiencing crises.
  • Experience working with individuals in residential service environments.
  • 3-5 years training and/or experience in adult education, populations with learning disabilities and/or severe mental illnesses.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support, activities, and skills training both individually and in group settings as outlined in client treatment plans, including but not limited to, coping skills, self-care, social interaction skills, illness management, crisis management, daily living activities, community awareness, and assistance with residence transitions.
  • Attending team meetings, training sessions, case reviews, and multidisciplinary treatment teams as assigned by the Program Coordinator, Program Director, or VOANR.
  • Assist in preparing materials for the day treatment process, such as making copies, assembling packets, setting up group rooms, and cleaning/organizing the workspace.
  • Clean program facilities as needed or assigned.
  • Monitor client medication in compliance with VOANR Medical Policies and Procedures.
  • Conduct basic risk assessments and make immediate referrals to the Program Director, primary clinician, or on-call staff for further risk assessment and intervention services.
  • Ensure client safety, behavioral control, and crisis prevention activities within the scope of practice.
  • Contact clinical staff when necessary to intervene in situations requiring professional support, increased intervention, alternative placement, or a change in the level of care.
  • Administer drug and alcohol screenings/tests as authorized by clinical staff or the primary clinician.
  • Utilize assessments with clients as outlined in the Statement of Work, such as DLA-20, MIS, and ASI.
  • Schedule Clinical Assessments.
  • Maintain case records and other documentation in compliance with VOANR Policies and Procedures.
  • Familiarize oneself with and adhere to all VOANR Policies and Procedures, including any additional polices specific to the program of employment.
  • Meet productivity and billable hour expectations as determined by the Program Director.
  • Ensure the safety and maintenance of VOANR vehicles are upheld according to VOANR Policies and Procedures.
  • Attend meetings with community partners and maintain communication with community referral sources.
  • Participate in the onboarding of newly hired Skills Trainers and ongoing professional development activities/trainings.
  • Review internal documentation and communications, such as shift exchanges and meeting minutes, to ensure compliance and quality control standards are met.
  • Collaborate with consultants and the Electronic Health Record Network Administrator to support the Electronic Health Record System.
  • Coordinate software issues/concerns with Technical Support.
