About The Position

Our construction equipment group is seeking a full-time Lead Shop Technician. This position will report to the Tampa, FL branch. A Lead Technician is able to meet all requirements of a Shop Technician with little to no supervision. When a Service Department Lead Technician is needed, he or she will be given job assignment that will consist of successfully, efficiently, and accurately performing regular repairs on machinery, troubleshooting, diagnosing and testing equipment, assisting employees in planning jobs, scheduling jobs in the shop, providing technical advice, assigning jobs to employees, communicating with internal and external customers, responsible for a clean and safe shop environment, and training employees in areas of deficiencies. Additional responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to: Complete inspections Implementation of optional accessories General repairs Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities Performs other duties as assigned Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time

Requirements

  • Must complete manufacturer required training in any major product line.
  • Previous mechanic repair experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work after hours as needed
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of the following systems: engine, power train, hydraulics and electrical
  • Possess own tools
  • A positive attitude and high energy
  • Computer program skills - sufficient
  • Language Skills - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills - Basic: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Reasoning Ability - Intermediate: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
