About The Position

The Shipping Lead oversees daily shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations to ensure all materials and finished goods move safely, accurately, and on time. This role provides guidance, training, and support to Shippers, while coordinating work assignments, verifying shipments, and maintaining compliance with company and safety standards. The Lead serves as the primary point of contact for warehouse personnel, collaborating closely with production, logistics, and operations leadership to streamline processes, minimize delays, and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, guide, and motivate a team.
  • Experience with customer returns, waste management, and cross-department coordination.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments, external partners, and 3PLs.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, reporting, and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with shipping systems, documentation, and invoicing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Minimum of 3 years of warehouse experience, with at least 1–2 years in a lead or senior-level role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience with advanced problem solving.
  • Proven ability to lead or mentor junior warehouse operators and support training initiatives.
  • Experience with FIFO/FEFO and Inventory Control.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. independently and heavier loads with assistance.
  • Tolerance for exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of a Shipper I, II, and III.
  • Lead, assign, and coordinate daily Shipping & Receiving tasks to meet operational priorities.
  • Ensure all shipping activities are conducted in full compliance with company safety standards while promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety across the department.
  • Conduct routine cycle counts, investigate inventory discrepancies, and support inventory monitoring, supply requests, and cost-effective use of resources.
  • Train, mentor, and support employees at all levels while assisting the Supervisor with documentation related to team compliance, safety, and operational effectiveness.
  • Provide input on continuous improvement, reliability initiatives, and long-term equipment upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records, secure outbound shipments with proper documentation, and serve as the primary point of contact for urgent shipping and receiving issues.
  • Manage and support hazardous waste disposal operations by maintaining log books for storage and CBI pick-ups, ensuring regulatory compliance and a safe work environment.
  • Input tracking numbers into sales orders within ERP systems and complete end-of-day invoicing, ensuring all invoice documentation is properly stored and submitted to the appropriate teams on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate outbound satellite transfers and work with the Sales team as needed.
  • Oversee the secure receiving of goods at Pompano within 24 hours of delivery, verifying and documenting all incoming shipments for accuracy and quality.
  • Prioritize customer returns processing, including arranging freight, verifying items upon arrival, and submitting customer return records.
  • Communicate with the Sales Team to ensure all necessary tickets are available for the day.
  • Provide a clear and accurate end-of-day report to Operations detailing shipments processed, orders received after the 12:00 p.m. cut-off, orders on hand with current status, and any orders not shipped, including the reason for delay.
  • Lead warehouse team members to achieve daily and long-term operational goals.
  • Assist the team with all capabilities, involving the Supervisor only for escalation.
  • Serve as the primary contact with other Lead roles across departments when needed.
  • Maintain clear, consistent, and proactive communication with Operations, Sales, internal departments, and 3PL partners to accelerate problem-solving and ensure smooth operations.
  • Oversee and maintain ownership of assigned projects or designated operational areas
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
