About The Position

Intelligent Waves is seeking a Lead Server Support Center Technician to support warfighter mission assurance by overseeing daily Server Support Center (SSC) operations and ensuring the reliability of approximately 26 mission-critical servers across unclassified through Top Secret environments. This role provides technical leadership in VMware virtualization and enterprise server administration, managing installations, configurations, maintenance, and rapid response to outages. The Lead SSC Technician conducts routine audits and compliance reporting in accordance with DoD cybersecurity directives, mentors junior staff, and drives process improvements to enhance service delivery and mission readiness. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or a minimum of 6 years of equivalent relevant experience.
  • DoD 8140-approved and registered IAT Level II baseline certification required; Security+ CE preferred.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with VMware administration (version 5.1 or higher) and the design of program- and mission-specific system environments.
  • Proven ability to maintain server performance and reliability through system monitoring, patch management, and Automated Service Interruptions (ASIs).
  • Active Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph clearance required to sustain authorized access to NSA server environments.
  • Strong familiarity with DoD cybersecurity compliance requirements, including STIGs, IAVAs, IAVBs, and TCNO directives.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support server operating systems, with a focus on Windows Server 2008 and higher, ensuring reliable and secure mission operations.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot complex system and infrastructure issues, implementing corrective actions to restore and sustain service availability.
  • Manage IP-based network environments, supporting configuration, connectivity, and ongoing operational requirements.
  • Perform routine backups, system restorations, and disaster recovery planning to protect mission-critical data and infrastructure continuity.
  • Provide clear, timely communication and status reporting to technical teams and Government leadership to maintain operational transparency.
  • Leverage automation and scripting tools to improve server administration processes and enhance overall efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, accurate server records, and configuration management compliance across supported environments.
  • Lead and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative culture focused on high performance and continuous improvement.
