Requirements

  • Six (6) years of professional experience in UNIX and/or Linux system administration of networks and software systems
  • Experience in system backup and recovery; basic software management; security management and library management; installation and configuration of hardware; operational systems and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software
  • Experience in operating computer systems in different operating environments; sizing, performance, tuning, hardware/software/network troubleshooting and resource allocation
  • Experience in different network protocols including TCP/IP and major network security tools such as firewalls
  • Knowledge of computing and networking vulnerabilities, attack methods, and latest detection methods
  • Demonstrable experience in writing business/project plans, technical documents, presentations and proposals
  • High degree of skills with the MS Office toolsets

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or IT related field
  • DoD 8570 IAT III certification
  • One of the following certifications: CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP or CISSP Associate, GCED, GCIH

Responsibilities

  • Monitor system health and performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues across hardware, software, and network layers
  • Maintain and manage storage systems
  • Manage system backup and recovery
  • Coordinate with external hardware, network, and infrastructure teams
  • Provide after-hours on-call and call-in support as needed
  • Ensure compliance with system security requirements
  • Participate in technical and engineering discussions
  • Create and maintain system-level scripts and automation tools
  • Apply system patches and perform upgrades
  • Administer and manage user accounts
  • Maintain accurate hardware and asset inventory records
