Responsibilities What you’ll be able to do: Lead/Senior Software Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Allen Park, Michigan). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the Allen Park office. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from Allen Park, MI. Improve end user experience as well as system scalability for Ford applications. Design and implement observability frameworks to provide full transparency into the performance and reliability of applications, and infrastructure. Set up and maintain comprehensive monitoring systems to track system health, performance, and resource utilization. Collaborate with development and operations teams to build comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems that ensure real-time detection of issues. Establish performance baselines, set benchmarks, and measure improvements against them. Lead and develop strategies to analyze various business and technical scenarios to drive the highest levels of executive decision making around performance, infrastructure for GXP application. Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the system to improve speed, efficiency, and resource utilization. Develop and maintain scripts and tools to automate repetitive tasks, such as data pipelines. Drive the implementation of SLOs (Service Level Objectives) and SLIs (Service Level Indicators) to ensure the availability and performance of critical systems. Identify capacity-related issues proactively and work across technical and business teams to define and implement solutions. Proactively look for potential problems that could negatively impact performance and work to eliminate or mitigate them. Create performance test strategies, plans, and scripts to evaluate system performance under various load conditions. Continuously evaluate new technologies and industry best practices to improve our SRE tooling and efficiency of Ford services and drive their implementation. Keep up with the latest performance engineering practices, tools, and technologies and drive the adoption of performance engineering best practices across the organization. Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance on standard methodologies for observability and monitoring, and lead performance engineering efforts across teams.
